With the 2022 legislative session now behind us, we'd like to reflect back on all the big wins and bigger lessons that we've had.
We ended the session with all our major bills either passing or getting incorporated into other bills. HB 1758, HB 1761, and SB 2457 all passed and were transmitted to Governor David Ige's desk for bill-signing.
Although our language access bill was deferred, we still secured $130,000 for the Office of Language Access and $1.2 million in funding for Immigration Resource Centers!
We'd like to thank all our coalition members for showing up at the committee hearings, bringing testifiers, and calling legislators to advocate for our bills. We'd especially like to give a BIG BIG MAHALO to the Filipino Caucus for introducing our bills and helping leverage support! THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT.
Thank you to everyone that put time, sweat, and tears into this legislative session! HCIR appreciates you!
